In accordance with Law on Deposit Insurance System all credit institutions registered in the Republic of Croatia are obligated to become members of the deposit insurance system and they are not allowed to take deposits until they enter the Agency's deposit insurance system. This provision makes sure that all the deposits of citizens (natural persons),entrepreneurs and non-profit organisations in all credit institutions registered in the Republic of Croatia are insured.

According to the same Law, a credit institution is obligated to inform its clients, as well as potential clients, regarding the Agency's deposit insurance system, including information on the right of compensation, the upper limit of the right of compensation, the occurrence of an insured event and the procedure of compensation payment.
